Jacob Olvera

Jacob Olvera - Tax Accountant

Jacob is a Modesto original and joined us in January 2026. Prior to making his return to Modesto, Jacob had spent some time living in Idaho and Colorado. He learned a lot living and working out there, except for how to deal with the snow!

He earned an associate’s degree in computer science from Modesto Junior College in 2018. During this time, Jacob worked at several locations, including a dog treat manufacturer and a local Modesto non-profit. Through those jobs, he realized how much he enjoyed being an accountant and decided to make it his career.

He left Modesto to pursue his bachelor’s in accountancy at Boise State University in Idaho, the college with the blue football field. Jacob ended up choosing BSU because it “looks like they have fun over there” and the football games were a lot a fun. He completed his bachelor’s in accountancy in 2020.

While in Idaho, he went to work for small local CPA firms and discovered his passion for the profession and niche interest in taxes. He then began the process for his CPA license and completed it in February 2025.

Jacob, to this day, helps a small non-profit in Idaho that provides education assistance to underprivileged women and children in Tanzania. He started helping them with all things accounting in 2019 and enjoys helping them navigate the non-profit accounting world.

Over the years, Jacob has realized he enjoys the busyness of tax season. However, this doesn’t get in the way of him spending time with his family here in Modesto. You might even see him and his grandparents at the Gallo Center for the Arts watching a performance. Jacob enjoys playing board games, cards, working out and watching movies. His favorite movie is The Matrix, and second favorite is Toy Story. He tries to visit Montana every year with his family to enjoy some rest in the sun, they kayak and paddleboard around Flathead Lake during the summer.

He has two cats; one orange girl named Lark and a tuxedo boy named Checkers. They keep him company while working at home and may even make an appearance on video calls. A lot of people say the CPA stands for “Couldn’t Pass Again”, but Jacob likes to think it stands for “Cat Powered Accountant”!

“I’m excited to be joining the team, everyone here is awesome and they make the work fun.” Jacob continues, “I aim to bring the best quality service to the Modesto office of the J. Michale Haubert CPA PC family, and I hope that our work can help make your bad days turn good and your good days turn great!”
